Biography

Janine Hart Manemann is known for her ability to paint in a technically correct fashion while maintaining those painterly loose brush strokes that we all adore. She captures the atmosphere and light of the moment expressively. When viewing her sculptures one will be able to appreciate the same expressive hand.

Janine thoroughly enjoys painting “en plein air” with the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society. She feels the camaraderie that is inherent in this group produces many wonderful artists. “ I have always enjoyed landscape painting, but working with friends in our group has been very enriching.”
She serves on the board of the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society as the Vice President, President Elect.

Janine became interested in art as a young child in Clearwater, Florida.
Growing up with the beautiful sunsets, beaches and clear glass streams instilled a love of nature that remains an important aspect of her art. “I am at peace in nature, we all identify with that concept. When I’m there, I paint what I see and how that makes me feel.

”The family move to Tucson in 1968 began her appreciation of the Sonoran desert landscapes. Janine graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Art in Art Education. She taught in the public schools and in private venues. At one time she was a frequent watercolor and ceramic teacher at Tucson’s Canyon Ranch Resort.
